Family Vacation in SV5

I plan to visit Kos Island (IOTA EU-001) from July 25th to Aug 5th. TRX will be in my luggage for sure.

Unfortunatelly I will come to island on Saturday 25th. I hope I will be ready for 2nd part of the IOTA contest. So stick up for me to arrange everything in time :-)

Another weekend is EU HF Contest. If the hotel management will be patient I will participate in this contest as well.

My supposed working conditions:

TRX FT-897D + tuner AT-897
telescopic pole 12m
half-size G5RV (40-10m)
dipole (80-40-20)
laptop with N6TR (DOS version)

See you on the air as SV5/OK2PTZ or SV5/OK6Y!

Another news is Claimed Scores for CQ WPX SSB 2009 Contest. You can find it here.

Final adjustment of 2xK9AY phased RX system

I mentioned my 2xK9AY receiving phased system many times here. It has been installed during last winter. All cables were installed temporarily and I didn´t care much about them. I slightly sorted them out during the March but it was still temporary installation. Some time I achieved to ride with grass-cutter among the cables without any problem. But accident came without any notice and one coax cable got direct cut. So right moment occured to make the final installation.

The following pictures show how the final installation gone:

1. hard work on southern K9AY - the intrenchment of control cables and koax

2. hard work on northern K9AY

3. control and phased unit

4. inside view

5. phasing cable

6. view to southern antenna. Only N-S loop is installed.

How it probably started II.

My first entry to this blog was my photo from 1970, where I and my father were sitting next to some undefined equipment which provided curious sounds. In addition to this my father very often spoke to it and repeated unintelligible words sounding like "sííkjů sííkjů".

Authentic witness (my mother :-) ) confirmed that this words (means "sííkjů sííkjů") sound very often during my "job" on chamber-pot.

I have found another photos so they are here::

As I remember well it is hard job on Christmas present (medium wave receiver ). Please watch the absorption!

Here is something more interesting. Experts can recognize the Russian army receiver R-250.
On the right side you can see the TX module "made in my Father".

The miniaturisation was coming to countryside as well. In front of me is another father´s homebrew TRX.

Award - EU HF Contest 2008

Comments:

Very nice contest! My first serious participation. I did
not believe I can made 700 QSO on one band from the centre
of the town.

I spent 2 weeks before contest to prepare new RX antennas
- 2x K9AY end-fire/broadband array. It "improved" my ears
for sure. :-)

So thanks for all contacts.

73!
